In December 2023, we completed a carefully designed solar tile installation for a traditional residential property. With a focus on preserving the character of the home while incorporating renewable energy, this project used Ergosun integrated solar tiles to provide a low-profile solution that delivers clean energy without compromising the home’s appearance.

Project Brief
The homeowners were interested in reducing their energy bills and lowering their environmental impact but had concerns about the visual impact of conventional solar panels on their older property. The goal was to find a solution that would suit the home’s existing character and avoid any planning complications or aesthetic disruption.
Solution & Installation
Ergosun solar tiles provided the ideal answer. These tiles were seamlessly integrated into the existing roofline during a re-roofing project, maintaining the original look and feel of the property. Installed flush with the surrounding tiles, they deliver efficient energy production with a near-invisible finish.
A Solis 5.0kW hybrid inverter was chosen for its reliability and future compatibility with solar battery storage, giving the homeowners the option to expand their system as energy needs evolve.
System Performance
Since commissioning, the 5.81kWp solar tile system has been supplying a substantial portion of the home’s electricity during daylight hours. Without battery storage, the focus has been on maximising immediate self-consumption and exporting any excess via the Smart Export Guarantee scheme. Even in winter months, generation has made a noticeable dent in utility bills.
